Funding Concept Micro Projects

The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) has integrated the "micro projects" funding format into the funding announcement for applied energy research published in May 2024 as part of the 8th Energy Research Programme. Micro projects offer low-threshold access to research funding.

Micro projects can be applied for with reference to one of the specific funding priorities within the BMWK's 8th Energy Research Programme. The projects should address issues that contribute to accelerating the energy transition. This includes, for example, projects that investigate the feasibility of innovative ideas, prepare more extensive research projects or bring new technologies closer to market maturity.

In order to simplify and accelerate the application for and funding of these research projects, the format is implemented in a single-stage procedure. As a rule, the format foresees a project duration of six months. To apply, a micro project must be treated like an individual project.
